Evey was only one month old when she came into foster care. Immediately she was placed with Kala’s family. Kala was new to being a foster parent and she loved Evey from the beginning. Within a few days, Evey was assigned a CASA named Larry. Kala was fostering another child who didn’t have a CASA. Seeing what Larry did for Evey made her realize how important a CASA is for a child in foster care. Larry attended every meeting and court hearing regarding Evey. He got to know everyone in her life and could speak about her best interests. “Larry’s focus was solely on Evey. It felt good to know there was someone looking out for her,” says Kala.
